XCor Aerospace
The Californian Company XCOR Aerospace has presented its low-cost suborbital flights program. They project operations will commence in 2010. The
ship they will use for these flights is called LYNX and its size is not bigger than a private jet.
A rocket, which will use a fuel that is respectful with the environment, based on liquid oxygen and kerosene, will propel Lynx and during the combustion
it will generate water.
Flights will have a duration of 30 minutes and they expect to execute 4 flights per day. In each flight the ship will carry one pilot and one passenger,
both sitting in the cockpit together.
The ship will fly at 3.5 mach reaching about 4.200 kilometres per hour. LYNX will be able to operate from any commercial airport
around the world.
The main difference between these flights compared to the ones of other companies that offers suborbital flights is the price. The estimated price for
these flights is 100.000 USD, which is 50% less than the competition.
